I appear to have become inhabited by an indie-rock version of my former self today. Perhaps it’s the weight of all these mirrors; perhaps it’s these infernal dreams. Pela weren’t around long, but they burned. If you’re hooked on the Matt Berninger show or the Walkmen, you should be inside this.
‘Inherent Song’ by Lullaby for the Working Class from Song
Woke to two things this morning: a robin piping liquid silver into the dawn air; and this weave of damp melancholy by Lullaby for the Working Class. I’ve not heard or thought about this track in probably 5 years. Where such things reside is something of a mystery. As is why, even in memory, a line like ‘lifting a voice to mimic the cicadas’ can make me catch my breath.
